Hole of the Week 5: The Pines - Woods #4

From the teebox, this looks like a simple enough hole - straight and 365 yards. But when you hit your drive, you realize that it is very narrow. It also plays much longer than the card reads as the green is elevated. The green is not very deep and has a subtle but significant slope which makes putting quite difficult.

I love the yardage book comments: "This tight par-4 driving hole is best played down the middle." No shit! The fairway is about 10 yards wide! It can only be played with a drive down the middle!

The "Cahoona Canyon of Death" lies right in front of the green. It doesn't look so bad on the picture but Cahoonas have been know to be lost for hours there. If I had a quarter for every time thatI had to chip of the little mound on the back of the green I could pay for Cahoona '07.
